The York Street Club, located at 1311 York Street in Denver, Colorado, has been a figurehead of recovery and fellowship for the Greater Denver area since its inception in 1948. We are widely recognized as the oldest continuous Alcoholics Anonymous clubhouse west of the Mississippi.
Our clubhouse is housed in a magnificent three-story Victorian mansion with a rich history. Built in 1893 by architects Kirchner & Kirchner for Colonel Charles E. Taylor, the home later became the residence of Judge Owen E. LeFevre and his wife Eva French LeFevre in 1896. During their time, the home was known as a cultural center—housing one of the best libraries in Denver, modern French paintings, and serving as the "center of art, literature, and music" in Denver society.
After Eva LeFevre's death in 1948, the house was sold for a nominal price to York Street #1, a local group of Alcoholics Anonymous. Founded by members of Denver Alcoholics Anonymous Group One, the York Street Club was created to help alcoholics find recovery through AA and to support their families in confronting the effects of alcoholism.
Our mission is to provide a friendly and safe facility for connecting members of the recovery community and encourage positive and growth-based engagement. We are committed to rendering aid and assistance to the alcoholic by providing a meeting place for Alcoholics Anonymous and AA family groups like Al-Anon.
Today, the York Street Club hosts 61 meetings per week across 17 distinct and separate AA Groups. We offer AA meetings, fellowship, group events and social activities, service work, and 12-step program support. Some meetings are "open" for anyone to attend, including people wishing to find out more about AA, while others are "closed," meaning for those who claim AA membership.
The York Street Club is completely separate from the Alcoholics Anonymous organization—we are a private club hosting public AA and Al-Anon meetings. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking.
Members of the 1311 York Street Clubhouse have the opportunity to take advantage of many perks in the upcoming year. While we highly encourage all participants to consider membership, some (but not all) of these advantages include:
Our beautiful three-story Victorian mansion features a lobby cafeteria with booths, a huge meeting room on the second floor surrounded by windows, and smaller meeting rooms on the third floor. We are open 7 days a week and provide a welcoming, non-judgmental atmosphere where you can share your experiences, challenges, and triumphs.
We are continuously working to improve our facilities with ongoing upgrades including parking lot improvements, refinished steps and doors, and general maintenance to ensure a comfortable and safe environment for all who walk through our doors.
Whether you're new to recovery or a seasoned member of the fellowship, the York Street Club welcomes you. Come find your tribe, build lasting friendships, and discover how it works.
All are encouraged and welcome—See the front desk for details about membership!

The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. AA meetings in Denver at the York Street Club are for anyone who shares that desire, and many meetings are open to those who want to know more.
